While it may seem that the three stories are disconnected, they all allude to the human condition. The first story is about the pursuit of material wealth which humans associate with happiness. However, the obsession with material wealth consumes them and paradoxically drives them further away from the contentment that they desire. If one is constantly looking for more, nothing is ever enough.
The second story is a metaphor for the plague that humankind is on the planet. The house is planet Earth, the only home we have; the bugs are what we humans deem as pests, which have every claim to this planet as we do; and the rats are us. The bank is climate change and the call to action to correct our parasitic behaviour before we burn our house down.
The final story is an indictment of the property market which goes against the basic human right to a home by discriminating against those who fail to play by society's arbitrary rules. The House holds a mirror up to us and beckons us to take a good hard look. Those in denial will reject these messages, so it is "preaching to the converted". Watching this is still one hell of a ride and the stop motion animation is a joy to behold.
