Why should Geek Girls be 10 stars?
I rarely rate anything 10 stars, but unlike most of the younger generational shows these days, Geek Girls was not full of sex, bad language, violence, nudity, etc., and that was honestly very refreshing. Anyone in their 40's and above remember watching "clean" shows, not including those of you who had cable and watched Skinamax .Of course, don't get me wrong, most of the "greats" do have all of the above (Outlander, GOT, The Sopranos), but this Netflix show is very different. It's not a Hallmark Mystery show, which I do like (I'm well rounded, no shame), but THIS is the Netflix show you'd been wishing for that had less of the graphic scenes, and more of the story, good acting, and one where you don't have to change the channel when your 5 year old walks in the room. Yes the storyline may be unrealistic, but what non kid friendly TV show, movie or "reality" type video is realistic?
As far as the storyline.... The main character, Harriet, struggles with bullying until she is "found" by a modeling agency during a modeling show while on a school trip-yes, a stretch, but this is a fictional show. Harriet, still struggles with bullying in this new world; however, the moral of the story revolves around a teen girl finding and believing in herself, and gaining self confidence-all of which are attributes kids (and adults) struggle with.
So...if you're looking for a good show to binge that you don't have to pause every time your kid walks in, then I recommend Geek Girls.
