A teen and his mother (Collin Shephard and Fiona McQuinn) move to rural Georgia where he makes a couple of new friends (Bryen Lenis and Alissa Shaye Hale). The girl insists on hiking to an infamous local cave and all hell eventually breaks loose.
"Hallowed Be Thy Name" (2020) is a micro-budget Indie that starts out well for most of the first hour, but loses its mojo in the last act. Despite its modest origins, I was impressed by the opening sequence (the one after the prologue & credits); the writing/acting of mother & son is well done, even moving. When the son goes to school the next day the viewer is introduced to the other two protagonists, Mick and Skylar (Lenis and Hale) and their acting is questionable, to say the least, but they quickly rise to the challenge for a spare-change Indie and I found myself engrossed in the story.
Alissa is a highlight of the film, a pleasure to behold, although her character has a little too much sass (but what else is new for teenagers?). Fiona, the mother, is over two decades older, but still attractive and pleasantly angelic.
Everything is here for a quality small-budget spooky flick, but a little more time needed spent on working out glaring kinks. For instance, Mick's sister dies and a few hours later it's completely forgotten. As for the last act, it's weak and needed something more. The 'monster' is at best serviceable. Meanwhile the clichéd "gay" character doesn't help.
The film runs 1 hour, 39 minutes, and was shot in Georgia (e.g. Jasper and Cave Springs).
