Shockingly Awful is terrible. In fact, it is so bad that this film earns my barnacle encrusted Anchor of Shame as being the worst film of the year! What's wrong with this propaganda film? Well, it's a propaganda film that is loaded with politically motivated rhetoric while missing several key components...like a well-written story and plot just to name two. I wish that I could post a toilet emoji because, as the old saying goes, a picture says a thousand words.
On a positive note, the acting wasn't half-bad which, given such weak material, is actually quite impressive so they shouldn't be held responsible for this titanic disaster. In the end, I recommend renting All the President's Men if you're wanting to experience a good film about investigative journalism. Only rent Shock and Awe if you've been extremely bad and wanting to punish yourself. It's that bad.
