This movie holds up well from the opening scene to the final reveal. In between that, you've got some great footage of what looks like fresh powder, great writing, acting, directing, producing, plus all of the other things that go on in filmmaking that must also achieve excellence for a film to to well.
Plus, there were two scenes that scared the hell out of me. Ok, three. There are some great shots in there that have been lost to most people. Plus, the chilling guttural sounds of the snowmobile that is serving nicely as our beast, in one way or another.
The Sound Department did an amazing job. Punching through the snow with something menacingly metal to find her after the triggered avalanche. Everything that happened SOUNDED threatening. But then there'd be quite snowfall, or the little girl, singing. I'd say that Sound really flavored each and every scene. Think about it. There wasn't anyone screaming, "I'm going to kill you!"
