Not your average horror film. In fact, nothing is average about this gem. A chilling metaphor for family dysfunction, TYLD was a wild, weird ride with a strong payoff and unbroken tension, throughout. It's Edge of Tomorrow meets Saw but with its own unique take on character and family dynamic.
The VO talent was well-cast - it was easy to forget who was voicing whom, so easily did they dissolve into (and seem to have plenty of fun with) their roles. I lost count the number of times I wondered, "How will Miriam ever make it out of this one?" Each character was compelling and severely damaged in intriguing ways, and the humor was well-placed, not overdone, and razor sharp (get it?). I looked forward to watching this from when I first heard about it, and it did not disappoint. The writing was tight - it set a high bar for character development and heart in a way that never talks down to its audience. Overall, I found it original, unexpected, imaginative, and bizarre in the best of ways. You'll be glad you checked it out.
