If the main motive is to simply deceive the viewer/reader then this one achieve it exceedingly. Yet, this is not art. What you have is that you bring in reasonably talented players, directors, and so on, with enough financial backing, and yet compose a film with so much disingenuity that it only becomes a testimony to the tastelessness of the average European cinema.
I watched the movie with this expectation to the end. Waiting for it to betray its premises, as most Euro movies do. Nevertheless, it artfully (!) abstained from doing so until the last minute. What happened in the last minute? Well, we all learned that what we taught was true was not! What a triumph for the writers! I felt relieved: I was wright this was Euro trash. Unfortunately, that cost me about two and a half hours!
