I've been a fan of the DC animated films since they began. I thought they were better skilled at adapting their stories than Marvel was (while Marvel was better adapting their stories to the Silver Screen than DC was) but, lately, I haven't been too impressed. The films haven't been overtly bad
just not as memorable.
"Batman vs. Robin" adapts the "Court of Owls" story arc well enough, I really enjoyed the development it is showing Damian Wayne, and the voice acting is, not surprisingly, absolutely fantastic—hearing Kevin Conroy return to voice big daddy Thomas Wayne and having "Weird Al" as The Dollmaker was very cool and worked extremely effectively. The only issues I had was the story feels too rushed and compact, the action is just serviceable and not very memorable, and the character design is pretty bland (but this has been an issue with DC for some time). Too often, a series of characters will all look the same (like their body build) and are only really unique in the form of hair style and eye color.
However, even with these issues, "Batman vs. Robin" is a serviceable animated Direct-to-DVD feature and works pretty decently in the shared animated universe. The film is entertaining and I enjoyed it in the moment but it just wasn't as memorable as other films DC has done in the world of animation.
