The bout was brilliant. Israel was winning going into the 5th round, 3 rounds to 1, and Pereira needed a finish to win. The bout displayed high level striking throughout, both men attacking each others legs with kicks, and Israel landing some beautifully timed right hands that looked to have the challenger out on his feet in the closing seconds of round 1. The champion mixed in some grappling to tire Pereira, a brilliant strategy, and Israel was just a step ahead for most of the bout. That is until the 5th round where Pereira came on strong, ending the contest in emphatic fashion.
