Rolando Romero (USA) vs. Andres Figueroa (COLUMBIA) | 4K - FULL HIGHLIGHTS #boxing #sports
đ„ FIGHT DESCRIPTION: The undefeated lightweight prospect delivered one of the most jaw-dropping knockouts of 2019, stopping Andres Figueroa in brutal fashion in the fourth round of their FS1-televised bout Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. A perfectly timed left hook sent Colombiaâs Figueroa crashing to the canvas, prompting referee Rudy Barragan to immediately wave off the fight without a count. Romero, now 9-0 with 8 knockouts, had only gone past the second round twice in his young career. His previous three fights lasted a combined six minutes, though this time he was pushed to work a bit longer. Figueroa (9-5) was never truly a threat to pull off the upset, but he managed to give Romero some rounds to showcase his skills. That didnât last long. By the fourth round, the 23-year-old prospect stepped on the gas. After landing a sharp combination, Romero caught Figueroa trying to trade and left him exposed. One clean left hook was all it took to end the night. The official time of the stoppage was 1:27 of round four. Figueroa remained down for several minutesâconscious, but needing assistance to leave the ring. With the win, Romero has now scored knockouts in four straight fights. Once mentioned as a potential opponent for rising star Ryan Garcia, Romero now has his sights set on something bigger. âBy the end of the year, I want a title eliminatorâand by 2020, I want a world title,â Romero told FS1âs Heidi Androl after the fight.
