Most of today's energy sources for mobile propulsion systems are non-renewable. All of the mass storage, distribution, mobile storage and mobile energy conversion pathways involve energy input and conversion efficiencies. This lecture by Dr Wolfgang Epple from Jaguar Landrover looks at the future of energy in passenger vehicles from a manufacturer’s view. The Automotive Industry has committed to reduce energy consumption per travelled distance substantially over the next decade. In his talk, Dr Epple discussed the various merits and challenges of these pathways for global CO2 reduction from passenger car use, and will present various solutions and discuss some of the major business and commercial considerations. Dr Wolfgang Epple is leading Jaguar Land Rover’s Research and Technology activities. He joined Jaguar Land Rover in June 2012 as Director, Product Programmes.
