🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION: former WBC super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell and his hometown crowd had to accept a technical unanimous decision victory instead of a full fight finish. A severe cut above Dirrell’s left eye in the sixth round forced the ringside doctor to halt their scheduled 10-round super middleweight clash. Since the injury was caused by an accidental head clash, the outcome was determined by the judges’ scorecards. Ansel Stewart scored it 49-46, while John Belise and Ben Rochester both turned in 48-47 cards, all in favor of Dirrell. At 33 years old, Dirrell raised his record to 31-1-1. Meanwhile, 29-year-old Derrick Webster Douglin of Marlboro, New Jersey, dropped to 20-6. Dirrell landed a crushing right hand late in the opening round that badly shook Douglin. Douglin managed to clinch and survive long enough to hear the bell. The southpaw Douglin spent much of the fight trying to keep the stronger and more aggressive Dirrell off him. Dirrell repeatedly hurt Douglin in the fourth round, including a sharp right uppercut with 1:08 remaining that snapped his head back.
