On November 6, 2020, at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, unbeaten contender Junto Nakatani faced Filipino challenger Giemel Magramo for the vacant WBO flyweight world title, after multiple postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Coming into the fight, Nakatani was 20–0 (15 KOs), while Magramo held a record of 24–1 (20 KOs). From the opening rounds, Nakatani used his height, reach, and sharp jab to control distance, keeping Magramo at bay. Magramo had moments pressing forward, especially in the middle rounds, but struggled to consistently land clean shots against Nakatani’s movement and timing. As the fight progressed, Nakatani’s accuracy and power punching began to break Magramo down. In the 8th round, a heavy left hand followed by a barrage of punches dropped Magramo.
