Mark Branch is the head wrestling coach for the Wyoming Cowboys, serving in the role for over 13 seasons and becoming one of the most successful coaches in the program's history with a 151-94 overall record. As a former standout at Oklahoma State, he was a 4-time NCAA finalist, 2-time NCAA champion, and 4-time All-American. Key Achievements and Background: Coaching Career: Before joining Wyoming, Branch spent 11 seasons at Oklahoma State (6 as associate head coach, 5 as assistant), where he was part of four NCAA championship teams. He has led the Wyoming Cowboys to significant success, including a 16-4 record in the 2018-19 season. Wrestling Career: Branch is a notable NCAA champion who overcame a difficult freshman year to win a national title. He is a member of the Kaw Nation. Philosophy: Branch emphasizes building a strong team culture by identifying and guiding natural leaders rather than forcing leadership structures. Awards: He was named the 1997 Big XII Athlete of the Year and is a 4-time NWCA Academic All-American. As of late 2024, Branch is recognized as one of the most impactful coaches in Wyoming's wrestling history, frequently noted for his leadership and success in developing student-athletes.
