EVERTON 1-2 WEST HAM | Premier League Summer Series at Soldier Field, Chicago
Everton could not build on Idrissa Gana Gueye’s first-half opener as they went down 2-1 to West Ham United in their Premier League Summer Series clash at Soldier Field in Chicago. Skippering the Blues for the second match of the pre-season competition in the USA, Gana put David Moyes’ side in front on 17 minutes when he collected Harrison Armstrong’s well-timed past to slot home. But the Hammers were allowed a route back into the contest shortly before half-time as Lucas Paqueta took advantage of a defensive error to put into an empty net. And the winner came on 64 minutes when substitute Niklas Fullkrug drove an angled shot into the bottom right-hand corner from 20 yards out. Despite the scoreline, there was a positive for Everton, with James Tarkowski coming off the bench to make his first appearance since tearing his hamstring in early May.
