ESPN EDGE RANKINGS: The drop-off from Myles Garrett to Jared Verse may be bigger than we expected

The Cleveland Browns knew replacing Myles Garrett would be nearly impossible, but ESPN's latest edge rusher rankings highlight just how difficult that task may be. Garrett was the unanimous No. 1 edge defender in the NFL according to league executives, coaches, and scouts, while Jared Verse landed outside the top 10 despite entering Cleveland as the centerpiece of the blockbuster trade. That doesn't mean Verse can't become a franchise cornerstone—but it does reinforce the reality that replacing a generational talent is about more than finding another good pass rusher. The bigger question is whether Browns fans should judge Verse against Garrett at all. Can Verse develop into one of the league's elite edge defenders in Mike Rutenberg's defense, or will the comparison to a future Hall of Famer always make the gap feel larger than it really is?
