🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION: 2025 has turned into a year of pure frustration for Lamont Roach inside the ring. Twice this year, Roach walked away believing he had done more than enough to win brutal 12-round wars. Twice, the judges denied him the victory, leaving him empty-handed despite performances many fans felt deserved better. Roach (25-1-3, 10 KOs) fought Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (28-3-2, 18 KOs) to a hard-fought majority draw in their WBC interim super lightweight title showdown Saturday night at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. One judge favored Cruz 115-111, while the other two scored it even at 113-113. It marked Roach’s second straight majority draw of 2025, extending a run of controversial scorecards. Earlier in March, the former WBA super featherweight champion battled Gervonta “Tank” Davis to another disputed 12-round draw in New York—a fight still remembered for the infamous moment when Davis took a knee without it being ruled a knockdown, a decision that sparked widespread outrage across the boxing world. “All I’m asking for is a fair shot,” Roach said afterward. “I felt like I edged it. A close win, but a win. This is some bulls***. I truly believe I won that fight.” Cruz knows what it's like to face elite opposition as well. The Mexican pressure fighter previously challenged Gervonta Davis for the WBA lightweight title in December 2021, pushing the champion through a grueling battle before ultimately falling by unanimous decision.
