Firstly - the low ratings are undeserved, so much so I had to write my own review. Secondly - this is schlocky, self-aware cinema, and those viewers that don't appreciate B-movies should look elsewhere.
Yes, the CGI effects are lacking in parts by today's standards and the sets are modest, but otherwise this film is great fun. All the acting and the dialogue are top-draw (there are a few moments that had me in stitches), as are the prosthetics, camera work and post-production. And we get Willis as well as Rooker too! Personally, I would've amped up the violence and gore a bit, but a budget is finite and a lower rating has a larger audience. According to iMDb this is O'Reilly's first foray into directing live-action (although he has produced a few films) - I look forward to seeing more.
